Recommended Resources

Redeemer commends the theological clarity and courage of The Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals. We think that the diligent work of the Alliance is a great blessing to the body of Christ. We rejoice in the Alliance’s commitment to confess the truth of God’s Word, and to see that truth embodied in the Church’s doctrine, worship, and life. We would encourage everyone to take advantage of the rich resources that the ministries of the Alliance so diligently provide.

Desiring God Ministries is a wealth of God honoring-Christ exalting material from the ministry of Pastor, Theologian, and writer, John Piper. The goal of Desiring God Ministries is to supply the body of Christ with essential resources for finding its joy in God. These essential resources come in a variety of forms from Podcast, to articles, interviews, sermons, books and more. With great enthusiasm, Redeemer Community recommends the online resources of Desiring God Ministries.

The Gospel Coalition is an initiative of several evangelical churches which is designed to serve the greater body of Christ by calling it back to faithfulness in the gospel. The coalition was formed according to the shared burden of many, who after analyzing the landscape of the contemporary church, were moved to action on its behalf. The coalition describes its actions as an "effort to renew the contemporary church in the ancient gospel of Christ so that we truly speak and live for him in a way that clearly communicates to our age." Redeemer joyfully says, "Amen" to the burden and subsequent work of the Gospel Coalition. Here Redeemer gladly makes available the necessary link for anyone to search and benefit from the tremendously empowering and encouraging material of the Gospel Coalition. May God be preeminent in his Church which he purchased with his very own blood.

“To suppose that whatever God requireth of us that we have power ourselves to do, is to make the cross and grace of Jesus Christ on none effect.” This quote by John Owen serves as a tag line for Mongerism.com and serves as the vision for this ministry to the body of Christ. Monergism contains a vast wealth of rich resources and theological instruction to help the believer grasp the effect of the cross and the glory of God’s grace for both our conversion and our daily Christian walk. There are current messages, essays, and articles from many authors on different theological truths and Scripture passages. There is also a large catalog of classic writings from the Reformers and past evangelical leaders. Finally, you have to check out the bookstore! It is a really helpful guide to keep you updated on the latest discussions and the best resources to direct our thinking on these topics for the glory of God and supremacy of Christ.

Together for the Gospel is a recent movement among conservative evangelicals leaders to unite pastors and churches around God’s glory in the gospel. The primary minds behind this movement are Al Mohler, President of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, CJ Mahaney, leader of Sovereign Grace Ministries, Mark Dever, Pastor of Capital Hill Baptist and director of Nine Marks Ministries, and Ligon Duncan, Pastor of First Presbyterian in Jackson, MI and president of Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals. Also involved with T4G is John Piper, RC Sproul, and John MacArthur. The leadership at Redeemer has attended the bi-yearly T4G conference and have benefited greatly. We plant ourselves firmly with these men as being together for the gospel. Check out the site to become familiar with the movement and check out the resources and blog.

Established in 1971 under the leadership of R.C. Sproul, Ligonier is a theologically rich source for Christian education. The goal of the entire ministry is to equip saints to be able to express in biblical terms what they believe and why. In order to speak intelligently about God and the gospel, the apostle Paul says that a person must be "renewed in his mind". Dr. Sproul comments that "the renewed mind is one that is informed by the mind of Christ. The mind of Christ is revealed in the Word of God.The transformed mind is a mind that lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. In simple terms, if you want spiritual growth, if you want a renewed mind, you have to feed your mind with the Word of God." To this end, Ligonier Ministries makes available books, magazines, radio broadcasts, conferences and more. Here at Redeemer we are pleased to recommend the excellent resources and ministry of Dr. R.C. Sproul from whom we, as well as the larger body of Christ, are forever indebted.

Alpha and Omega Ministries is unique among our recommended ministries because of its narrow focus on apologetics. This site will introduce you to the greatest threats and attacks facing the church today, and it will equip you to answer these attacks with solid Biblical and Theological reasoning. There is a special emphasis on how the Christian is to engage the New Atheism that is so prevalent today. It is hard to find resources for apologetics that are committed to the authority and sufficiency of the Word, as well as a high view of God. Alpha and Omega accomplishes this. We are all called to defend our faith and to always be ready to give an answer for the hope within us. This ministry will be great help in this endeavor.

9Marks wants to help local churches re-establish their biblical bearings and re-think their ministry methods. We exist to help local church pastors and leaders in the discovery and application of the biblical priorities that cultivate health and holiness in the local church. In a day when there are as many ideas of a what a church should be and should do as there are churches, 9Marks is a great resource to help sift through the ideas and find real answers. Mark Devers leads this ministry, and pastors a great example of a healthy church in Washington DC. As you work through the website, be sure to listen to some of the audio they have available. Devers' interviews with leading evangelical teachers and pastors are extremely fascinating and informative.

Matthias Ministries is the mininistry that we would recommend for evangelism and discipleship material. Their ministry resources are designed to help you at each stage of the gospel growth process. Everything they produce is designed to support outreach, follow-up, growth and training. There mission statement explains the goal of the ministry: “To serve our Lord Jesus Christ, and the growth of his gospel throughout the world, by producing and delivering high-quality, Bible-based resources.” Another excerpt from the Matthias website is enough to demonstrate why we would so highly recommend them to the body of Christ. "For us, being evangelical means that we love the five famous ‘solas’ of the Reformation: Christ alone, Scripture alone, grace alone, faith alone, and all to the glory of God alone. It means that we are driven by the evangel of Jesus Christ: we centre our theology on it; we read the Bible through its lens; and we are compelled by its irresistible logic and love to see the name of Jesus preached and held high everywhere."
