"We need daily bread that we might live. We need daily forgiveness that we might not die. How have we fallen short of the glory of God? Let us count the ways . . . So we hear without reservation the Bible's demand that we forgive as we have been forgiven. As long as there is repentance, there must be forgiveness (Matt. 18:21-22)." Question 126: What does the fifth request mean?

Answer: "Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors" means, Beacuase of Christ's blood, do not hold against us, sinners that we are, any of the sins we do or the evil that constantly clings to us. Forgive us just as we are fully determined, as evidence of Your grace in us, to forgive our neighbors.
